Deterring nation-states such as Russia and North Korea from executing cyberattacks will require sanctions and other pressure, says Fergus Hanson of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.

Hanson is head of the International Cyber Policy Centre at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute. He formerly was a professional Fulbright Scholar at Georgetown University, worked for the United Nations and served as a diplomat at the Australian Embassy in The Hague.
