"It's a good reminder that in any change, security leaders have to think about the ramifications of the change and make sure that as the change occurs, we stay on top of that," Booker said.
"We think about third-party risk. We think about understanding how the system comes together and we protect the entire system end to end, not just the company that's acquired or the acquiring company. The whole network around them is at risk, and we have to protect all of it," he said.
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2024, Booker also discussed:
- Cybersecurity as a core M&A strategy;
- Ways to address third-party risks;
- Taking a holistic approach to protect network.
Booker serves as chief strategy officer with HITRUST following 13 years as CISO of UnitedHealth Group. He previously worked at a multinational telecommunications company, leading and supporting information security programs and initiatives for numerous global enterprises in the pharmaceutical and consumer products sectors.
